Taylor Swift’s father, Scott, reportedly took action after his daughter was subpoenaed in Blake Lively’s legal dispute. The Daily Mail reported that the 73-year-old approached Justin Baldoni’s legal team, alleging that Lively was “threatening” Swift, potentially planning to leak their private messages if Swift did not publicly support her amid the ongoing drama related to “It Ends With Us.” Earlier, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, stated they received the information they needed from Swift and subsequently withdrew the subpoena, though details were not elaborated upon.
An insider told the Mail that Scott Swift was eager to prevent his daughter from being further entangled in the matter. He reportedly provided the information in exchange for Baldoni’s team dropping their subpoena. On May 15, it was reported that Lively’s attorney, Michael Gottlieb, had reached out to Swift’s law firm, demanding that Swift issue a statement of support for Lively. If she did not comply, Lively would allegedly release “private text messages of a personal nature.” Court files further revealed that Lively also requested Swift to delete some messages. Although Scott’s identity was initially kept confidential, Freedman indicated that the information came from someone extremely close to Swift. In contrast, Lively’s attorney dismissed the claims as “categorically false,” asserting that the allegations were baseless and sourced from anonymous informants.
Another insider spoke to the Mail, reinforcing Scott’s assertion that Lively had attempted to “extort” Swift by threatening to disclose private information to elicit her agreement to support a narrative she had no involvement in. Following Baldoni’s decision to withdraw from the case, Swift will avoid court proceedings. However, the relationship between her and Lively seems to have been strained. Since the legal issues arose, Swift has refrained from publicly supporting or opposing Lively. Furthermore, Swift faced accusations of influencing creative changes in Baldoni’s directorial work, allegedly pressuring him to adopt adjustments suggested by Lively. In court, Freedman unveiled that Baldoni was invited for dinner by Lively’s close associates, described as “dragons,” who are majorly influential celebrities.
Swift’s representatives later issued a statement clarifying that she was not involved in the film’s script rewrite, apart from lending her music. Although her song “My Tears Ricochet” was featured in the film, a spokesperson asserted, “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie; she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, and she never reviewed an edit or made any notes on it.”
