Chinese automaker BYD has marked a significant milestone by surpassing Elon Musk’s Tesla in electric vehicle sales in Europe for the first time. In April, BYD sold 7,231 battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) compared to Tesla’s 7,165 cars. 2022 was a challenging year for Tesla; it experienced its first annual decline in deliveries. Experts predict this trend will persist into 2023, with a reported 13% drop in sales during the first quarter. Nonetheless, Musk mentioned that sales have rebounded in regions outside Europe. He also noted that protests against Tesla’s practices, fueled by his political views, have negatively impacted sales.
China’s strategic investments and technological advancements have bolstered its electric vehicle sector, aiming to establish the country as a global leader.
