In a separate conversation with JPMorgan Chase’s Jamie Dimon, Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng asserted that substantial progress has been made on economic and trade negotiations, reiterating China’s intention to expand opportunities for U.S. businesses operating within its borders. However, analysts from Nomura have flagged ongoing disputes, particularly related to U.S. warnings against the use of Chinese-made AI chips. They predict that strategic decoupling between the two nations remains likely, especially in advanced technology sectors, potentially leading to new tariffs and export restrictions.
China’s Ministry of Commerce has retaliated against what it terms “unilateral bullying” from the U.S., asserting its commitment to defending its rights and interests in the trade discussions ahead. As both nations continue to engage in discussions against this backdrop of evolving dynamics, the path forward remains uncertain.
