Tezpur University Unveils Revolutionary Books on Education Reform and Heritage
Guwahati: Tezpur University (TU) in Assam launched three new books authored by its faculty and students on Wednesday, addressing primary education, inclusive learning, and the cultural heritage of Northeast India.
The event, attended by senior officials and academics, was inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shambhu Nath Singh.
Two of the publications focus on education. The books, “Accelerating Outcome-Based Primary Education – Role of Policymakers and Community” and “Inclusive Education – Evaluating Support Systems and Learning Aids for Children with Special Needs”, were co-authored by Prof. Subhrangshu Sekhar Sarkar, Director of International Affairs; Prof. Papori Baruah, Chief Proctor; and Abdul Latif Hazarika.
The first book investigates policies and community strategies aimed at enhancing learning outcomes at the primary level. The second book delves into the required infrastructure and resources to facilitate inclusive education, particularly for children with special needs.
The third book, “Treasures of Time: A Curated Collection of Cultural Artifacts,” is authored by Dr. Juri Gogoi Konwar, Head of the Department of Cultural Studies, and Dr. Subhra Devi, Assistant Curator. It documents selected artifacts from the university’s museum.
This publication serves as a visual and narrative archive, showcasing the diverse cultural heritage of Northeast India. It was developed as part of a summer internship project involving six students: Anwesha Gogoi, Bibek Pratim Bora, Chinmoy Saharia, Sonia A Hazarika, Pinkey Gogoi, and Jitu Deuri.
During the launch, Prof. Singh praised the authors and contributors, emphasizing that these works reflect Tezpur University’s dedication to academic excellence and impactful research.
Key university figures, including Prof. Manabendra Mandal, Dean of Students’ Welfare; Prof. Suvendra Kumar Ray; Prof. R.R. Hoque, Dean of Academic Affairs; and Prof. Debarshi Prasad Nath, were present at the event.
