Govt Unveils New OCI Portal: Elevate Your User Experience Today!
Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the new Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Portal in New Delhi yesterday. This upgraded portal aims to enhance functionality, security, and user experience for over 5 million existing OCI cardholders and new applicants. During the launch, Shah emphasized India’s commitment to providing world-class immigration facilities for OCI cardholders, stating that the redesigned portal features an updated user interface to simplify the registration process for Overseas Citizens. He also highlighted the need to ensure that Indian-origin citizens residing globally do not face any inconvenience when visiting or staying in India.
The Home Ministry revealed that the previous OCI Services portal, launched in 2013, operates across more than 180 Indian missions and 12 Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRROs), handling around 2,000 applications daily. In response to significant technological advancements and feedback from users, the revamped OCI portal was developed to overcome existing limitations and improve the overall user experience.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the new OCI portal on social media, stating that its enhanced features represent a significant advancement in citizen-friendly digital governance.
