Urgent Call for NEHU’s Academic Council Meeting: Join Us!
Shillong, 14 May: The Meghalaya College Principals’ Council (MCPC) has urged the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) to convene the Academic Council (AC) meeting to tackle critical issues affecting the university. This meeting is essential for approving syllabi for the fourth year of the undergraduate program, as well as for granting and renewing affiliations, and making necessary amendments to affiliation ordinances to align with the new curriculum framework. The MCPC has expressed significant concern about the ongoing developments at NEHU, which is vital for Meghalaya’s higher education, housing around 85 affiliated institutions and nearly 75,000 enrolled students.
The council extended its appreciation to the Examinations Department of NEHU and Prof. Sumarbin Umdor, the Controller of Examinations, for successfully conducting the Undergraduate Odd Semester Examinations in November and December 2024. This included the inaugural examination for the 26 Vocational Training Courses introduced under the new Undergraduate Curriculum Framework as part of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Additionally, the Examinations Department has proactively engaged with affiliated colleges on significant academic issues, such as addressing topics related to Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and developing internship guidelines for the upcoming semester, the MCPC noted.
