Delhi’s Heart Beats for the Armed Forces: A Vibrant Display of Tricolours
A sea of Tricolours flooded the heart of the Capital on Tuesday evening as thousands of Delhi residents took part in the Tiranga Shaurya Samman Yatra, a rally organized by the Delhi government to honor the Indian Armed Forces following the successful Operation Sindoor. The march, which wound from Kartavya Path to the National War Memorial, was a powerful expression of unity. Participants from various backgrounds, including schoolchildren, NCC cadets, civil defense volunteers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, and professionals, made their way to India Gate despite the rain, chanting slogans like ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ while celebrating with patriotic songs.
Raj Kumar, a 35-year-old autorickshaw driver from Dwarka, expressed his sentiments: “It has always been my dream to join the Armed Forces. Today, I might not be wearing a uniform, but I feel like a soldier too.” Leading the rally were prominent BJP leaders such as Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh, and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva, along with various ministers, MLAs, MPs, and councillors.
Gupta addressed the crowd near India Gate, stating, “Our brave soldiers have sent a message across Pakistan that India will no longer remain silent in the face of terror.” Chugh added, “India has changed… This new India desires peace but is ready to go to any extent for the total eradication of terrorism.” The BJP announced that the rally was part of a series of nationwide events planned to demonstrate solidarity with the Armed Forces, with the Delhi yatra kicking off a series of events set to unfold across India over the next 11 days.
Reema Khanna, a 32-year-old schoolteacher from Rohini, shared her perspective: “I teach my students about patriotism every day. Today, I walked with them… hopefully, they will grow up to make the nation proud… This march isn’t just for the soldiers, it’s for the children who will grow up knowing what standing with your nation looks like.” Nearby, 22-year-old NCC cadet Adil Hussain stood in uniform with fellow youth volunteers. He reflected, “We train hard, but nothing compares to walking side by side with veterans, students, and people who believe in the same cause… This made us feel that our training has meaning, that we will be ready when our time comes.”
