National Lok Adalat ’25: 219 Cases Successfully Resolved in Nagaland
Dimapur: The second quarterly National Lok Adalat (NLA) 2025, organized across Nagaland by District Legal Services Authorities under the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority, successfully disposed of 219 cases, totaling a settlement amount of ₹2,38,99,111. Among these, 192 cases were at the pre-litigation stage, while 27 were pending. The cases involved primarily bank loan recoveries, telephone bills, Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal matters, and various consumer and civil issues. A district-wise settlement report was released on Monday, detailing the number of cases settled and the respective amounts.
This session of the NLA took place on May 10, aiming to reduce the backlog of cases in courts. Known as the “people’s court,” the NLA serves as an alternative dispute resolution forum. Its objectives include enhancing access to justice for marginalized communities and ensuring disputes are resolved promptly and affordably.
