Yunus প্রশাসন শেখ হাসিনার আওয়ামী লীগ নিষিদ্ধ করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে
In Bangladesh, an interim government led by Muhammad Yunus has imposed a ban on all activities of the Awami League, the party of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, under the Anti-Terrorism Act. This ban remains in effect until the trial of the party and its leaders concludes. According to the state-owned news agency, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), the council of advisers reached this decision during a special meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka on Saturday night. A statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing noted that the council also approved an amendment to the International Crimes (Tribunals) Act, which will enable the punishment of any political party, its affiliated bodies, or supporters.
The amendment empowers the International Crimes Tribunal to take action against political parties and their organizations. During the meeting, it was decided that all activities of the Bangladesh Awami League would be banned, including those on online platforms, in accordance with the Anti-Terrorism Act until their trial at the Tribunal is finalized. This decision is intended to protect the nation’s security, uphold sovereignty, ensure the safety of July Movement leaders and activists, and safeguard the plaintiffs and witnesses involved in the tribunal process.
A circular regarding this ban will be issued on the next working day. The meeting also decided to finalize and publish the July Proclamation within the next 30 working days.
