Sikkim CM Urges Vigilance in Crisis Preparedness Amid Escalating Indo-Pak Tensions
As Sikkim bolsters its security measures, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang conducted a thorough review of the state’s preparedness in light of recent tensions between India and Pakistan. A high-level meeting convened at Samman Bhavan aimed to assess the readiness of essential departments and establish a seamless response strategy for any potential crises, a statement from the Chief Minister’s office confirmed.
During the discussions, Tamang underscored the significance of proactive planning and inter-departmental collaboration, particularly emphasizing the roles of District Collectors and Superintendents of Police across all six districts. He directed all relevant departments to take immediate and effective actions to safeguard the state.
Assuring the public of the government’s commitment, Tamang stated that the Sikkim administration is implementing vital and proactive measures to protect the safety and sovereignty of the state, which in turn contributes to national security. “These initiatives are essential for maintaining the peace, territorial integrity, and security of Sikkim, especially considering our state’s strategic location near international borders,” he asserted.
He also reminded citizens of their collective responsibility in ensuring safety, urging them to stay calm, alert, and responsible. Tamang called for full cooperation with administration and security personnel and cautioned against the circulation of unverified information on social media that could incite unnecessary panic or disrupt public order. By reinforcing these protocols, he aims to support both local and national preparedness, ensuring the wellbeing of the community.
