Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla convened a significant high-level meeting on May 10 at the Raj Bhavan’s Conference Hall, reinforcing the state’s unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces as tensions rise along the Pakistan border. This gathering united leaders from various political factions in Manipur, who collectively emphasized national solidarity and steadfast backing for soldiers on the frontlines. Among the political parties represented were the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress (INC), Janata Dal (United), National People’s Party (NPP), Naga People’s Front (NPF), and Republican Party of India – Athawale (RPI-A).

During the meeting, Governor Bhalla highlighted the essential nature of political unity in times of crisis, stating, “This meeting stands as a testament to the unbreakable spirit of our people and the shared resolve of our leaders to speak in one voice in support of our brave soldiers.” He acknowledged the collaborative spirit displayed by all participating parties.

In addition to the political leaders, the event was attended by key figures such as Manipur’s Director General of Police, Rajiv Singh, Secretary to the Governor, Sumant Singh, and Major General S.S. Kartikeya, General Officer Commanding 57 Mountain Division, along with other senior military officials. Major General Kartikeya provided a detailed briefing on the evolving border situation, discussing India’s strategic responses and operational readiness amid the ongoing conflicts. His presentation gave attendees critical insights into the current security dynamics at the border.

Political leaders at the meeting unanimously commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “tactful and visionary leadership” during this crisis, expressing confidence in the government’s ability to manage tensions at the border with both resilience and foresight. The collaborative gathering underscored the commitment of Manipur’s political leaders to stand firm in support of India’s armed forces as they navigate these challenging times.
