Jammu, Amritsar y 22 aeropuertos indios cierran ante la creciente tensión India-Pakistán: conoce la lista completa.
At least 24 airports across India have been temporarily closed amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following recent drone and missile attacks by Pakistan targeting Indian cities, including Jammu, Punjab, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. The Civil Aviation Ministry has taken this step to enhance safety and security measures as international concern heightens. The airspace situation has led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights, further affecting travel plans for many passengers.
Airports in Jammu, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Jaisalmer, and Shimla are among those grounded for civil flight operations. In Punjab, the airports in Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda, Halwara, and Pathankot have also been affected. Himachal Pradesh’s Bhuntar, Shimla, and Kangra-Gaggal airports are closed as well. The Union Territory of Chandigarh has its airport shut, alongside those in Jammu and Kashmir—Srinagar and Jammu. In Ladakh, Leh airport is also closed, as are multiple airports in Rajasthan, including Kishengarh, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Bikaner. Gujarat’s airports in Mundra, Jamnagar, Hirasar, Porbandar, Keshod, Kandla, and Bhuj have similarly suspended operations.
With the increase in military hostilities, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has directed airlines to heighten security protocols. As part of the new measures, passengers will now undergo a Secondary Ladder Point Check (SLPC), while visitor access to airport terminal buildings has been restricted. Air Marshals will be deployed as per the latest directives to ensure passenger safety.
The tensions between India and Pakistan are at a critical juncture, and the aviation sector is responding with caution, emphasizing security and safety in response to the heightened military disturbances that have directly impacted civil aviation operations. As the situation unfolds, further updates are anticipated regarding both security measures and flight operations.
