Empowering Safety: MP Raju Bista Leads Vital Mock Drill for Emergency Preparedness in Darjeeling, Terai, Dooars, and Sikkim

In an initiative aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness and civil defense, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced a comprehensive “Mock-Drill” scheduled for May 7, 2025. This extensive exercise will be conducted across 244 border districts in India, including the Darjeeling Hills, Terai, Dooars, and neighboring districts in Sikkim. The primary objective is to evaluate the readiness of local authorities and citizens in responding to various emergencies, including hostile attacks and natural disasters.

Raju Bista, Member of Parliament for Darjeeling and the BJP’s National Spokesperson, is advocating for public participation in this drill. He emphasizes the significance of such exercises in testing the efficiency of air raid warning systems, evacuation protocols, and civilian emergency training. Bista states, “The ‘Mock-Drill’ will focus on evaluating the preparedness of citizens in times of crisis. It will empower individuals with the skills to protect themselves and others in critical situations.”

The drill will encompass various essential components, including the implementation of blackout measures, local authority coordination, and training on civil defense strategies. These components are critical to ensuring that residents know actionable steps during emergencies and can assist those in need.
