The series, which ran from April 26 to May 5, showcased India’s dominance, particularly in the final match where they posted an impressive 191 runs for five wickets, subsequently bowling out Sri Lanka for just 88 in 15 overs. India’s journey through the series included a commanding 103-run victory in the opener and a six-wicket win in the second game. Sri Lanka managed to push the hosts in a tight third T20, where India clinched the series with a three-wicket win. The Indian team continued their strong performance, winning the fourth match by 66 runs. For their efforts, the Indian team received a prize of ₹2 lakh, while Sri Lanka was awarded ₹50,000 along with trophies.
In billiards, renowned cueist Pankaj Advani showcased his skill by winning the CCI Billiards Classic for the third consecutive time, defeating Dhruv Sitwala 5-2 in the final held on May 5 in Mumbai. Advani faced challenges in the early frames, but capitalized on Sitwala’s errors, leveling the game and turning the tide in his favor. “This win is special to me,” Advani expressed, celebrating his prestigious victory. Along with the title, Advani secured ₹2.5 lakh in prize money, whereas Sitwala took home ₹1.5 lakh.
Meanwhile, Indian weightlifter Parv Choudhary earned a bronze medal at the IWF Youth and Junior World Weightlifting Championships in Lima, Peru. Competing in the youth boys’ 96kg category, Choudhary achieved a combined lift of 315kg, which included a 140kg snatch and a silver-winning 175kg clean and jerk. This medal marks the third for India in the ongoing tournament, following previous bronzes won by Jyoshna Sabar (40kg) and Harsabardhan Sahu (49kg) last week.
In snooker, Chennai’s Dilip Kumar triumphed over Mushtaq Khan with a convincing 5-2 victory in a qualifying match of the NSCI Baulkline Snooker tournament on May 5. Formerly ranked No. 5 in India, Kumar executed a dominant performance despite Khan winning two frames. In another match, Rayan Razmi advanced after Imran Nazeer conceded the game, trailing 0-4.
