Arunachal Pradesh Boosts Morale: DA and DR Increased by 2% for Government Employees and Pensioners
The Arunachal Pradesh government has announced a 2 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners, boosting the rates from 53 percent to 55 percent of basic pay and pension. This adjustment aims to support both current workers and retirees amid rising inflation.
Effective retroactively from January 1, 2025, this decision will offer considerable financial relief to All India Services (AIS) officers working in the state, Central government employees on deputation, as well as pensioners and family pensioners. According to a senior Finance Department official, the total financial impact of this increase is estimated at around ₹73.22 crore over the next 14 months, translating to a monthly implication of ₹5.23 crore. Notably, for the first four months of FY 2025 (January-April), the financial burden will be approximately ₹20.92 crore, with ₹20.80 crore allocated for DA and ₹0.12 crore for DR.
Employees will receive their arrears in cash for the period of January to April 2025, providing immediate financial relief. Starting in May 2025, the new DA and DR rates will be integrated into the standard monthly salary and pension payments, ensuring ongoing support for those affected.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his congratulations to all government employees, highlighting that this initiative demonstrates the state government’s commitment to employee welfare and aims to lessen the economic strain brought on by inflation. He encouraged employees to respond to this support with diligence and dedication in their work.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who oversees the Finance portfolio, took to social media platform X to announce the details. “Happy to share that the Government of Arunachal Pradesh has approved a 2 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for employees and pensioners, raising the rate from 53 percent to 55 percent of basic pay and pension, effective from January 1, 2025,” he noted. Mein reiterated that the arrears for the first four months will be paid in cash, with the updated rates reflected in monthly disbursements starting in May 2025.
“This move reflects the Government of Arunachal Pradesh’s commitment to the welfare of its workforce and pensioners, easing the pressures of inflation and recognizing their invaluable contributions to the state,” he commented.
This decision marks a significant step towards enhancing the financial well-being of those who have served the state, reinforcing the government’s commitment to its employees during challenging economic times. As the state navigates the intricacies of fiscal management, measures like these are essential to foster a motivated and committed workforce.
Arunachal Pradesh continues to take active steps in supporting its employees and pensioners, showcasing a model of governance that prioritizes welfare alongside economic strategy.
