Empowering Arunachal’s Youth: Union Minister Mandaviya Champions Sports and Labour Reforms
Union Minister for Labour and Employment and Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh L. Mandaviya, has committed to empowering the youth of Arunachal Pradesh through targeted sports initiatives and progressive labour reforms. This pledge came during a recent high-level meeting with Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K.T. Parnaik at Raj Bhavan, where the leaders engaged in detailed discussions on strategies to nurture local sporting talent and address labour challenges.
Governor Parnaik highlighted Arunachal Pradesh’s emerging status as a center for sporting excellence, particularly in boxing, martial arts, and athletics. He attributed this achievement to the natural stamina and discipline of the state’s tribal youth. Parnaik advocated for the creation of multi-disciplinary stadiums in urban centers and improved sports infrastructure in rural areas to tap into the hidden potential of young athletes. “Our youth are full of energy, talent, and determination, but their potential remains untapped due to limited access to facilities,” he stated, calling for investments in grassroots sports like football, volleyball, and archery.
Following the meeting, Mandaviya took to social media platform X to emphasize the importance of growing and developing the Northeast, particularly Arunachal Pradesh. He noted, “We discussed the growth and development of the Northeast, especially Arunachal Pradesh, and deliberated on ways to boost sports participation and empower youth across the state.”
The governor also acknowledged the impressive feats of the state’s female mountaineers—Tine Mena, Anshu Jamsenpa, Muri Linngi, Tashi Yangjom, and Kabak Yano—who have conquered Mount Everest. He described them as national icons deserving of ongoing support to inspire future generations.
On the labour front, Parnaik underscored the necessity of transitioning the state’s traditional workforce into formal employment through focused skill development initiatives, job creation, and inclusive policies. Minister of Labour and Employment, Nyato Dukam, was also in attendance at the meeting, marking a significant step toward aligning the aspirations of Arunachal Pradesh’s youth with national development goals.
This collaboration aims not only to enhance the sporting landscape of Arunachal Pradesh but also to ensure that the region’s youth are equipped with the skills and opportunities necessary for a successful future. The commitment to sports and labour reform represents a holistic approach to addressing the challenges and aspirations of a vibrant generation ready to make their mark.
The government’s focus on empowering youth through sports and labour reforms is timely, as it aligns with the national agenda of fostering talent and enhancing employability, setting the stage for a dynamic and prosperous future for Arunachal Pradesh.
