Exposing Corruption: APSC Scam Report Reveals Congress’ Illicit Ties, Himanta Stands Firm

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has sharply criticized the Congress party for its involvement in a significant recruitment scam during its governance. He asserted that the current BJP administration is committed to restoring transparency and hope for the youth through fair recruitment practices.

In a recent statement, Sarma referenced the findings of the Justice (Retd.) Biplab Sharma Commission, which investigated irregularities in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) recruitments. The report unveiled serious allegations of corruption, unethical behaviors, and monetary transactions, as well as coercive tactics that disproportionately impacted young women candidates. Sarma did not shy away from highlighting the involvement of Rakesh Paul, the former chairman of the APSC, who has been accused of engaging in inappropriate relationships with female applicants.

Sarma revealed that the report also delved into personal matters concerning Paul, including his mother’s concerns about his ethical conduct and his wife’s decision to live separately due to these alarming issues. He clarified that his previous comments were informed by the Commission’s findings as presented in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
