Arunachal CM Ignites Passion at 4th State Games, Aiming for National Top 10 Triumph
Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu launched the 4th Arunachal State Games 2025 with a grand inauguration at Itanagar’s Golden Jubilee Stadium, showcasing the state’s rising prominence in the sports arena. This glittering event drew athletes from across the region, competing in Arunachal Pradesh’s most prestigious sporting competition. In his address, Chief Minister Khandu extended heartfelt wishes to the participants, commending their dedication and hard work. He highlighted the advancements the state has made, declaring Arunachal Pradesh among India’s top sporting regions.
Khandu spotlighted the state’s recent performance at the 38th National Games, where Arunachal claimed second place in the Northeast, bringing home 13 medals. “This achievement reflects our athletes’ extraordinary talents,” he stated, affirming the state’s ambition to excel nationally. He emphasized a commitment to improving Arunachal’s standing at the upcoming 39th National Games in Meghalaya and announced plans for further progress in the state’s sports sector.
The Chief Minister reassured athletes of the government’s unwavering support, underscoring the ‘Mission Olympics’ initiative aimed at providing top-notch training. “We are prepared to send our athletes for world-class training, even abroad if needed,” he added. Khandu’s commitment extends to sports infrastructure development, crucial for nurturing athletic skills, with significant investments in new and upgraded facilities. Recent years have seen the construction of top-quality stadiums, including the Golden Jubilee Stadium in Yupia, and new projects are slated for Lower Dibang Valley, Lower Siang, Pakke Kessang, and Longding districts.
Highlighting Arunachal’s capability to host major sports events, Khandu recounted the historic 77th Santosh Trophy finals held at the Golden Jubilee Stadium. Future events include the South Asian Football Federation U-19 Championship 2025, underscoring the state’s progress. “Such accomplishments, once dreams, are now achievable realities,” Khandu remarked. Plans for a new state-of-the-art stadium in the capital with a 25,000-seating capacity are underway, promising to elevate the state’s sports infrastructure further. “The site is identified, and construction will commence soon,” he informed.
The inauguration’s sparkle was enhanced by the presence of guests like Olympic bronze medallist Lovlina Borgohain, offering inspiration and prestige to the event.
