ENSF Unites at Triennial Cultural Fiesta and General Conference: A Celebration of Unity, Progress, and Heritage
Preparations are underway for the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) Triennial Cultural Fiesta and General Conference, scheduled to take place at Parade Ground in Tuensang town from April 15 to 17. The three-day event, themed “deliverance through ethnicity concord,” will bring together cultures from across the borders of present-day Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Myanmar, representing the eight Eastern Naga communities: Chang, Konyak, Sangtam, Yimkhiung, Phom, Khiamniungan, Tikhir, and Eastern Sumi.
This cultural extravaganza is not just a celebration of diversity but also a symbol of ancestral unity. “This is a space where our youth will not only witness the beauty of their identity but also be challenged to carry it forward, adapted to their times,” said an ENSF member, reflecting on the significance of the event. The festival promises to be an immersive experience, with participants traveling on foot from remote villages, often for days, adding a deeply personal and spiritual dimension to the event.
The event is expected to attract a large number of participants from across the region, with Naga Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the chief guest for the opening ceremony. The Fusion Nite will feature a performance by Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN), while the Achievers’ Night will honor trailblazers from the region, with N Jacob Zhimomi, Minister of PHED and Cooperation, as chief guest. Advisor H Sethrongkyu will also be present to acknowledging the achievements of the region’s youth.
Sports enthusiasts will be treated to the Games & Sports segment, which will be graced by Keoshu Yimkhiung, Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports. A community marathon will also take place, with Y Hejila, Project Director of DRDA Tuensang, serving as the Marathon Guest. The festival is expected to close with Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton as chief guest at the valedictory function, accompanied by MLA Imtichoba Chang.
The ENSF believes that the event will play a crucial role in strengthening India’s “Act East Policy” by enhancing cross-border Naga ties and paving the way for greater cultural diplomacy. More urgently, the organization seeks to bridge the gaps between Eastern Nagaland’s past and its aspirations. “Culture can do what politics sometimes can’t, it heals, it reminds, and it builds,” said an elder from the Khiamniungan Naga community, capturing the significance of the event.
By celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Eastern Naga communities, the ENSF Triennial Cultural Fiesta and General Conference aims to promote cross-cultural understanding and unity, forging bonds that cut across borders. As the festival unfolds, it will serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of preserving and promoting cultural diversity, ultimately enriching the lives of the communities involved.
