Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Annapurna Devi, recently undertook a significant visit to Kra Daadi District in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming the Centre’s commitment to empowering women and children in the region. Her two-day visit focused on public welfare engagements and reviewing key Government of India schemes benefiting the local population.
The Minister began her visit at the New Age Learning Centre (NALC) within the Byabang Heri Government Higher Secondary School, Palin, accompanied by state officials and local leaders. She toured the facility, participated in a tree plantation drive, and emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability alongside education. Devi’s initiative sent a strong message about the Centre’s dedication to integrated development.
Next, she visited the health, Women and Child Development, and Self Help Group (SHG) exhibition stalls at the General Ground, Palin. There, she interacted with local beneficiaries, encouraged community-led development initiatives, and praised the district’s progress in promoting women’s empowerment.
Later, Devi participated in the Poshan Pakhwada celebration at Nyokum Hall, Palin, showcasing significant strides in India’s flagship nutrition initiative aimed at improving maternal and child health. The event highlighted the country’s commitment to addressing malnutrition, a persistent issue plaguing many Indian communities.
The Minister also visited the District Hospital, Palin, meeting with medical staff to gain insight into operational challenges and reviewing healthcare services. Her visit aimed to ensure that healthcare services were accessible and effective for the region’s inhabitants.
On the second day of her visit, Devi chaired a review meeting on various Government of India schemes and the Aspirational Block Programme at the Panchayat Conference Hall, Palin. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, heads of departments, and senior district officials. During the review, she expressed appreciation for the district administration’s dedication and stressed the need for greater convergence, real-time monitoring, and community outreach to ensure that welfare schemes reached every household.
“We are committed to ensuring that every woman and child in Arunachal Pradesh is empowered, educated, and nurtured,” said Annapurna Devi. “The Centre will continue to work closely with the State to address gaps and strengthen last-mile delivery.” Her words echoed the Centre’s commitment to bridging policy and grassroots action in one of India’s most remote yet vibrant districts.
