Tripura’s Rural Revamp: ₹76.47 Crore Boost for Connectivity Infrastructure
The Government of India has taken a significant step towards enhancing rural connectivity and promoting economic development in several states, including Tripura and Odisha. As part of the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN), the Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned a total of Rs 246.47 crore to upgrade rural roads and infrastructure.
In Tripura, the initiative has approved 25 roads covering a total length of 84.352 km, while in Odisha, 26 roads measuring 63.271 km and two Long Span Bridges (LSBs) have been sanctioned. This move is expected to provide all-weather road connectivity to Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) habitations in the states, thereby improving their socio-economic conditions and bridging the gap between remote villages and urban centers.
The PM-JANMAN scheme aims to create employment opportunities, stimulate local economies, and improve access to essential services like healthcare, education, and markets. It is a vitally important initiative that aligns with the government’s vision of a developed India (Viksit Bharat). The projects under PM-JANMAN are expected to have a transformative impact on the region, contributing to the growth and prosperity of the Tribal Groups in the states and cementing the government’s commitment to inclusive development.
So far, 42 roads of 118.756 km length with an estimated investment of Rs 114.32 crore have been sanctioned in Tripura, while 66 roads of 211.14 km and four LSBs with an estimated investment of Rs 219.40 crore have been sanctioned in Odisha. The initiative is a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to enhance rural connectivity and promote economic growth in the region.
