Empowering Nagaland: Comprehending Welfare Schemes through Mega Awareness Drive on April 12
Nagaland to Organize Mega Legal Services Camp in Kohima, April 12
The Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) is collaborating with the Government of Nagaland to organize a State Mega Legal Services Camp on April 12 at the NBCC Conventional Hall in Kohima. The primary objective of the camp is to spread awareness about welfare legislations and schemes, strengthen the community’s access to these schemes, and ensure that eligible individuals benefit from them.
According to a press release issued by Neiko Akami, NJS, Member Secretary, NSLSA, the camp aims to identify and connect people to welfare schemes, address legal problems, and provide appropriate legal advice. This initiative is in accordance with Section 4(e) of the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987, which emphasizes educating the weaker section of society and securing their rights and entitlements.
The Mega Legal Services Camp is designed to serve as a service delivery platform, causing a paradigm shift from legal awareness to legal empowerment for the marginalized and weaker sections of society. The NSLSA has been organizing such camps in collaboration with district legal services authorities, district administration, government departments, stakeholders, and NGOs. The first-ever camp was held in Longleng District in May 2018 and concluded in Kohima in February 2019.
During the camp, the NSLSA will provide free facilities such as photocopying, affidavit, help desk for filling up forms, legal awareness stall, distribution of legal literature, drinking water, and transportation facilities. Beneficiaries are advised to bring personal documents to avail these services. In addition, the NSLSA expects dignitaries from the Ministry of Law & Justice, Government of India, Supreme Court of India, Gauhati High Court, National Legal Services Authority, and various government departments to participate in the program.
The camp is expected to create a significant impact, providing legal services and awareness to the people of Nagaland. It is an essential step towards promoting social justice and ensuring that the marginalized and vulnerable sections of society have equal access to opportunities. The NSLSA’s effort to organize such camps highlights its commitment to upholding the values of transparency, accountability, and public service.
By attending the Mega Legal Services Camp, individuals can expect to receive valuable guidance on their legal rights and entitlements. The camp offers a unique opportunity for the public to engage with government officials, legal experts, and other stakeholders, fostering a sense of community and social cohesion.
