Empowering Skilled Youth: Arunachal Pledges Stipends for Apprenticeships
Arunachal Pradesh Government Committed to Empowering Youth with Skills and Employment Opportunities
The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has reaffirmed its dedication to equipping youth with high-quality skills and employment opportunities, aiming to tackle the state’s unemployment challenges. Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Nyato Dukam, announced a significant initiative to support job seekers pursuing apprenticeships or employment outside the state. Under the extended State Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, these individuals will receive a one-year stipend in addition to their regular salaries. This move is expected to enhance the employability of Arunachal Pradesh’s youth.
The announcement was made at a felicitation event celebrating food and beverage trainees who completed a two-month residential training program in Itanagar. The program, a collaborative effort between the Department of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Honda India Foundation, and Visan Foundation, trained 30 individuals, including 25 women. A significant 25 trainees secured job offers with private firms after completing the course. Speaking at the event, Minister Dukam emphasized the importance of loving one’s job, stating that it is the key to success and growth.
Advisor to the Skill Development Minister, Dr. Mohesh Chai, praised the graduates as “brand ambassadors” of Arunachal Pradesh, urging them to represent the state positively. He highlighted the limited availability of government jobs and emphasized that securing employment in the private sector is the alternative to addressing unemployment. “Our youth need to get skilled and be willing to venture out of the state for jobs,” he added.
Chai and the government recognize the importance of skill development in tackling unemployment. The training program was conducted under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) in the food and beverage sector, with assessments carried out by the Tourism and Hospitality Sector Council. Visan Foundation Managing Director Sangeeta Ranjit confirmed that the trainees underwent thorough assessments to ensure their skills meet industry standards.
The government’s initiative aims to empower Arunachal Pradesh’s youth with the skills and opportunities they need to succeed. As the unemployment rate in the state continues to be a pressing concern, these efforts will play a critical role in driving economic growth and development. With a focus on equipping young people with high-quality skills and employment opportunities, the government is demonstrating its commitment to addressing the root causes of unemployment and fostering a brighter future for Arunachal Pradesh’s youth.
