Platinum Jubilee Celebrations: Chief Minister Joins Dignitaries for Emotional Farewell at Dodak Secondary School

Sikkim’s Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang attended the closing ceremony of the six-day platinum jubilee celebration of Government Secondary School, Dodak, a significant milestone in the school’s long history. The ceremony was attended by a range of personalities, including the Speaker-cum-Area MLA M.N. Sherpa, Education Minister Raju Basnet, Social Welfare Minister Samdup Lepcha, MLAs, and other officials.
The Chief Minister, in his address, congratulated everyone on preserving the school’s legacy and acknowledged the contributions of various individuals, including the land donors, who played a crucial role in the school’s establishment. He emphasized the importance of preserving historical moments, urging teachers and students to document such events for future reference. Tamang also complemented former students, who have achieved success, particularly those serving in the Government of Sikkim, expressing pride in their accomplishments and urging students to work hard to achieve their dreams.
The Chief Minister highlighted various existing government schemes and initiatives for the public, contributing to the overall development of the region. He also recognized the significance of education, stating that the school is one of the fortunate institutions, and acknowledged the school’s achievements in various fields, including education, sports, and arts.
Minister Raju Basnet, in his address, emphasized the historical significance of the school, mentioning its founding as one of the fortunate institutions. He announced that Daramdin constituency would have its own university in the future and encouraged public support for government initiatives aimed at fostering overall development.
As part of the celebration, an intra-Sikkim men’s open football tournament was also held, with the final match taking place on the day. Rumbuk Sports Association lifted the winners’ trophy with a 3-1 victory over DivyaJyoti Club, Siktam. The celebration committee president and school in-charge, P.C. Dahal, provided an overview of the school’s history, highlighting its founding and the key individuals who contributed to its establishment.
The ceremony also involved the felicitation of land donors and achievers of the school, a testament to the recognition of their contributions to the institution’s success.
