Catastrophic Accident Leaves Five Injured, One in Critical Condition: Terrifying Toll on Lives and Families

A violent assault allegedly carried out by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Dewaner-Alga village, South Salmara Mankachar district, has left a trail of destruction and raised serious concerns within the local community. The incident, which occurred on March 29, around 9:30 pm, during the Eid-ul-Fitr festivities, involved a team from the 150 BN BSF camp in Hatirchar entering the village and brutally assaulting the residents.

The victims, including a 15-year-old boy, were severely beaten with sticks, while one youth was detained and taken to the BSF camp. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with locals scrambling to help the injured, who were then transported to Hatshingimari District Hospital for medical treatment. Sahidur Islam Mollah, a 15-year-old minor, is in critical condition and has been referred to Guwahati for further treatment.

Locals reported that the BSF personnel physically assaulted several women, including Salema Khatun, Suna Banu, Husnera Khatun, and Jahanara Khatun, while an elderly woman was also beaten when she attempted to question the BSF’s actions. The victims’ family members are preparing to file formal charges against the BSF at the Sukhchar Police Station. The BSF still holds one youth in their custody, and authorities have conducted a preliminary inquiry into the matter.

The incident has left the local community in distress, especially as the region prepares for the Eid celebrations. The BSF’s actions have sparked outrage, and the community is demanding justice and accountability for the brutal assault.
