As security concerns continue to plague the Northeast region of India, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik called for a multifaceted approach to address the issue. Speaking at a seminar on Northeast India’s military history at the Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU), Parnaik emphasized the importance of winning public trust, minimizing civilian casualties, and upholding human rights.
According to Parnaik, years of neglect have led to insurgency in the region, and it’s crucial to adopt strategies that prioritize the welfare of the people. A total of 13 research papers were presented by students and research scholars from various universities in the Northeast, underscoring the breadth of interest in the topic.

He commended the vice-chancellor, Prof S K Nayak, and his team for organizing the seminar, which provided an opportunity for researchers to share their findings and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding the Northeast’s military history.
