Assam Police Nabs Two in Major Drug Bust, Seizes Yaba Tablets Worth 2 Crores in South Salmara
Assam’s Anti-Narcotics Efforts Bolstered with Seizure of Large Drug Consignment Valued at 2 Crore
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has praised the Assam Police for a significant anti-narcotics operation led to the seizure of a massive drug consignment worth 2 crore. On March 23, the police, based on credible intelligence, raided a residence in South Salmara and recovered 8,000 Yaba tablets, which were smuggled from a neighboring state and intended for trafficking into Bangladesh.
According to reports, two individuals involved in drug peddling have been arrested in connection with the case. The operation was a testament to the police force’s vigilance and commitment to combating drug-related crimes. CM Sarma took to social media platform X to share the details of the operation, praising the police for their efforts and posting, “Well done, Assam Police!”
The seizure is notable not only for the substantial quantity of contraband recovered but also for the efforts of the police in disrupting the illegal drug trade. The operation demonstrates the force’s ability to gather intelligence and act swiftly to apprehend those involved in drug trafficking. The incident has sent a strong message to drug peddlers and those involved in the illegal drug trade that the Assam Police will not tolerate such activities.
As the state continues to grapple with the issue of drug addiction, the seizure of this large drug consignment is a significant step in the right direction. The success of the operation is a tribute to the dedication and hard work of the Assam Police, who are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to curb the drug menace in the state.
The incident has also raised concerns about the easy availability of drugs in the neighboring state and the need for stronger border checkposts to prevent smuggling. While the Assam Police have made significant strides in combating drug-related crimes, there is still much to be done to address the complex issue of drug addiction.
