Cache of Arms and Ammunition Seized in Operation in Manipur’s Thoubal District
A joint operation by the Manipur Police and Assam Rifles led to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and military equipment from an abandoned militant hideout in southern Thoubal district on Tuesday. The successful operation was carried out after receiving precise intelligence about the presence of anti-social elements in the area.
The security forces targeted Aripat village, under the Nongpok Sekmai police station in Thoubal district, as part of their ongoing search operations. As the security team approached the hideout, the militants fled, leaving behind the cache of weapons and equipment. The abandoned property was subsequently searched, revealing a range of illicit items, including a 7.62 mm self-loading rifle with a magazine, an anti-riot gun, and high-explosive hand grenades.
The recovery also included military equipment, including an INSAS LMG magazine, an arming ring, tear smoke shells, and various rounds of ammunition. The team also discovered twenty camouflage T-shirts, three P-caps, and two Baofeng radio sets with their respective chargers. The recovered materials were immediately handed over to the concerned police station for further investigation, and an FIR was filed in connection with the operation.
