Heat Wave Conditions Grip Parts of India, IMD Issues Alerts for Several States
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of heatwave and severe heatwave conditions across various regions of the country. According to the IMD’s latest forecast, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail over Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand on Monday, while Gangetic West Bengal, Saurashtra, and Kutch are likely to experience hot and humid conditions over the next two days.
A red alert has been issued for severe heatwave conditions in Odisha until Monday, with yellow alerts issued for Jharkhand and West Bengal for the next two days, as per IMD scientist Dr. Soma Sen Roy. Met Department has forecast hot and humid conditions at isolated places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Kerala, and Mahe on Monday, with temperatures expected to soar. In contrast, IMD has predicted heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand on Monday and Arunachal Pradesh over the next two days, bringing respite to these regions.
Thunderstorms with gusty winds and lightning are also likely to lash several states over the next two days, including Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. These conditions can cause travel disruptions and pose a threat to people engaged in outdoor activities.
