Assam Govt Rebukes Hope for Contractual Polytechnic, Engineering Faculty Regularization
Assam’s Education Ministry Seeks to Regularize Faculty Appointments, Offers Alternative Pathway to Higher Education
The Education Minister of Assam, Ri Shahjib Kr Pegu, has made a significant announcement regarding the regularization of faculty appointments in the state’s educational institutions. The minister revealed that the government has administered two exams to regularize faculty appointments so far, with a third one currently underway. He also urged the released faculty members to participate in these exams to secure permanent positions.
The controversy surrounding the released faculty members took a surprising turn when they had initially won a legal battle in the High Court. However, the court later lifted the stay order, compelling the ministry to release these faculty members from their positions. In light of this development, the government is now working to regularize the appointments to ensure stability and continuity in education.
In a separate but related development, the Education Minister also clarified that the certificate course offered by ITIs (industrial training institutes) will no longer be a dead end for higher education. According to the new policy, students who complete this course will now be eligible to pursue higher education, equivalent to those who have completed HSLC (High School Leaving Certificate) courses. This recent move is expected to open up new opportunities for students, allowing them to seamlessly transition to Class XI and pursue their academic goals.
With these initiatives, the government is sending a strong message that it is committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable education system in Assam. By regularizing faculty appointments and offering alternative pathways to higher education, the state is working towards ensuring that every student has access to quality education, regardless of their background or circumstances. As the education landscape in Assam undergoes significant changes, one thing is clear: the future of education in the state is looking brighter than ever.
