Amit Shah to Strengthen North East Ties: CM Himanta Hosts 3-Day Visit, Sets Stage for Regional Cooperation
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to arrive in Jorhat, Assam, on Friday night for a three-day visit to the northeastern state and Mizoram, according to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. During his visit, Shah will participate in various events and meetings, including the inauguration of a state-of-the-art police academy and a function marking the relocation of the Assam Rifles establishment.
On Saturday, Shah will arrive in Jorhat and spend the night at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Dergaon, Golaghat district. The next morning, he will inaugurate the police academy before proceeding to Mizoram. In Mizoram, Shah will attend a function to mark the relocation of the Assam Rifles establishment from Aizawl to Zokhawsang, around 15 kilometers from the state capital.
On Sunday, Shah will return to Guwahati and stay overnight at the state guest house in Koinadhara. The next morning, he will address the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in Dotma, Kokrajhar district. The conference will be attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief Pramod Boro, senior ministers, parliamentarians, and key stakeholders.
After the conference, Shah will return to Guwahati and review the progress of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the Northeast with the chief ministers of the eight states in the region. Each state will present updates on the implementation of the BNS so far, according to Sarma. Finally, Shah will depart for New Delhi on Sunday night.
As per the reports, the Union Home Minister will be in the region for three days, and his visit is expected to be crammed with high-profile events and meetings. With his extensive schedule, it remains to be seen how the seeds sown during his visit will grow into long-term benefits for the region. For now, all eyes are on him, and his efforts to strengthen the bond between the government and the people of Assam and Mizoram.
