Noida Airport Inauguration: Talks Initiated with UP Govt for Grand Opening Soon
Noida International Airport Inches Closer to Operational Readiness
The Noida International Airport (NIA) has made significant progress in its journey toward operational readiness, with the recent submission of its application for the aerodrome license. In a statement, the airport management highlighted its collaboration with aviation and security regulators to complete all necessary steps ahead of its launch.
Despite earlier reports that the Jewar airport in Uttar Pradesh might miss its April deadline due to ongoing construction delays, NIA has reaffirmed its commitment to timely completion. In an interview with The Indian Express, CEO Christoph Schnellmann confirmed that the construction of the passenger terminal and air traffic control tower is nearing completion.
The Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), the concessionaire responsible for developing the airport, is set to hold a crucial meeting on March 10 in Lucknow with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to discuss the operational timeline. This meeting is expected to provide a clearer picture of the airport’s launch date, with an official from YIAPL describing it as a “key discussion point.”
Since the project’s inception in November 2021, NIA has made significant progress, with a validation flight successfully conducted in December 2024. The airport is expected to have a capacity to handle 12 million passengers in its initial phase. With the aerodrome license submission, the airport is now well on its track to achieving its goal of becoming a major hub in the region.
As the airport moves closer to its operational launch, its potential to boost economic growth and become a key connector between India’s diverse cultural and business centers becomes increasingly significant. The Noida International Airport’s steady progress toward operational readiness is a testament to the commitment of its stakeholders and a sign of bright days ahead for the airport.
