ASSAM PROTEST DEMANDS ACTION OVER FRU HOSPITAL CONCERNS
Members of the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) have taken to the streets in Margherita, demanding a permanent solution to the ongoing issues at the First Referral Unit (FRU) Hospital. Over 50 protesters marched from North Margherita Rangamancha to Segunbari Tiniali, where they staged a demonstration outside the office of MLA Bhaskar Sharma, urging the Assam government’s health department to take immediate action to address the hospital’s numerous problems.
The AJYCP leaders lamented the government’s apparent neglect of the hospital’s poor infrastructure and lack of essential medical facilities, leading to subpar healthcare services for local residents. “The government must act immediately to address these longstanding issues,” said Kanchan Bora, Vice President of the Tinsukia District Committee. Bimal Singh, President of the Margherita Regional Committee, echoed this sentiment, warning that the protests would continue until the hospital’s problems were resolved.
Margherita FRU Hospital has been grappling with staff shortages and inadequate medical equipment, ultimately impacting healthcare services in the region. The AJYCP’s bold protest has put pressure on authorities to take swift action and address these concerns. The BJP-led government in Assam has been under fire for its handling of the hospital’s issues, with many calling for greater transparency and accountability.
