Northeast Zone Open Archery Tournament Set to Kick-Off in Guwahati

Get ready for a thrilling weekend of archery action as the NTPC North East Zone Open Archery Tournament commences today at the iconic Nehru Stadium in Guwahati! Organized by the Archery Association of Assam (AAA), this two-day event will bring together some of the region’s top archers, vying for top honors in a showcase of skill and precision.

A Platform for Emerging Talent

The tournament, which will feature competitions in both Recurve and Compound categories, is expected to attract around 140 archers from across the Northeast region. The Recurve events will take place on the first day, Saturday, with Compound competitions scheduled for Sunday. Speaking at a press conference earlier, AAA Secretary Jayanta Boro highlighted the importance of the event: "The Northeast has produced exceptional archery talent, and this tournament will help elevate the sport, giving young athletes a chance to shine."

Cash Prizes and Prize Structure

The top archers can look forward to some attractive cash prizes. The winners will receive:

• 1st place: ₹20,000
• 2nd place: ₹15,000
• 3rd place: ₹10,000
• 4th place: ₹5,000

The tournament aligns with the Khelo India program’s mission to identify and nurture talent at the grassroots level, providing an opportunity for young archers to hone their skills and compete on a regional level.
