In a rapid and coordinated effort, Chimpu Police effectively arrested two individuals linked to a theft case at Gohpur Tinali, Chimpu, on February 18, 2025. The incident involved the theft of a handbag from a parked scooter belonging to Yajar Cheri. The stolen bag contained cash, a gold chain, ATM cards, and a mobile phone.
Upon receiving the complaint, the police launched an investigation, leveraging CCTV footage to pinpoint the prime suspect, Gollo Tara. Immediate actions led to the arrest of Gollo Tara and his accomplice, Nabam Sakap. During their operation, the authorities also retrieved the stolen motorcycle used in the crime, along with the handbag and mobile phone. Both suspects have confessed to the crime and are now in judicial custody at the District Jail.
The operation was spearheaded by Inspector N. Nishant, Officer-in-Charge at Chimpu Police Station, alongside ASI Manish Kumar, Investigating Officer, and supported by HC Jerry Romin, CT D. Ete, and CT Tasso Tasser, under the supervision of Shri Kengo Dirchi, SDPO Itanagar. This efficient resolution was achieved within 72 hours.
Superintendent of Police, Itanagar ICR, Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS, praised the team’s swift response and encouraged the public to stay vigilant, take necessary precautions, and report any suspicious activities to aid in maintaining law and order. This case underscores the importance of rapid police work and community cooperation in enhancing public safety.
This incident comes amid ongoing efforts by Arunachal’s law enforcement agencies, highlighted by initiatives like the safety and self-defense awareness program conducted by the Tawang police to educate students and bolster community security measures. Such efforts reflect the police’s commitment to proactive measures in crime prevention and public safety.
