Joyful Revival: Moreh Sub-Divisional Hospital in Manipur Reopens After Year-Long Closure
In a significant stride towards recovery in Manipur’s Tengnoupal District, the Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) Moreh has reopened after being non-operational since the ethnic clashes on May 3, 2023. The initiative, led by Dr. Angkhong, Chief Medical Officer of the district, along with the support of various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from Moreh Block and Tengnoupal District, marks a vital recovery milestone in the region.
The reopening ceremony included a solemn blessing prayer conducted by Rev. KK Hahau Gangte, Secretary of the Moreh Pastors Fellowship, who sought divine protection and guidance for healthcare workers and volunteers committed to serving the community. Attending the ceremony were community leaders, key stakeholders, and security officials such as the Commanding Officer of the 5 Assam Rifles and the Officer-in-Charge of Moreh Police, highlighting the collaborative effort to restore essential healthcare services in the town.
Dr. Angkhong addressed the gathering, underlining the hospital’s pivotal role in delivering medical care to Moreh and the surrounding areas. He stressed the reopening’s feasibility due to the unwavering support from stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in rebuilding healthcare infrastructure.
Representatives from the CSOs reiterated their commitment to ensuring the hospital’s smooth operation, pledging to work closely with healthcare professionals and local authorities to maintain and enhance service accessibility for the community.
