Heroic Itanagar Police Arrest Drug-Peddling Couple: Major Heroin Seizure Shocks Community
In a significant move against drug trafficking, Itanagar Police apprehended a couple known for recurrent drug-peddling activities and confiscated 13.20 grams of heroin. This operation followed reliable intelligence gathered on February 3, 2025. Led by Inspector Khiksi Yangfo, Officer-in-Charge of Police Station Itanagar, and supported by Inspector Takhe Tasso, Sub-Inspector Kentar Tacha, and other personnel, the team executed a meticulously coordinated raid on February 4, 2025. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SDPO Itanagar, Shri Kengo Dirchi.
During the raid, authorities recovered ten plastic vials containing suspected heroin. The accused individuals were identified as Tadar Naham, 24, originally from Langloth village in Kurung Kumey District but currently residing in A-Sector, Itanagar, and Kenna Perme, 24, from Mebo village in East Siang District. Upon questioning, the suspects admitted to using drugs for the past three years and confessed to sourcing the contraband from Assam. Tadar Naham revealed a scheme of selling excess drugs in the Itanagar Capital Region for financial benefits.
Consequently, a case was registered under Sections 21(a) and 27 of the NDPS Act, and the accused were placed in judicial custody for 14 days. Commending the efficiency of the police action, SP Itanagar Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS, praised the team and promised suitable rewards for their effective efforts in addressing drug trafficking.
The Itanagar Capital Police reiterated its dedication to the “DAWN” mission—a campaign aimed at eradicating drug abuse and trafficking. Authorities continue to urge citizens to report any suspicious activities, emphasizing community involvement to foster a safer society.
