NHAI Powerfully Denies Alarming Claims of FASTag Rule Changes: Get the Real Story!
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has officially dismissed claims circulating in the media about changes to FASTag rules reportedly leading to declined transactions. Contrary to these reports, NHAI clarified that a circular issued by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on January 28 has no adverse effects on FASTag user experiences. The purpose of this circular is to streamline the resolution of disputes between the Acquirer Bank and the Issuer Bank concerning FASTag statuses as vehicles navigate toll plazas.
NHAI emphasized that the new guidelines are designed to ensure the seamless processing of FASTag transactions within a reasonable timeframe as vehicles pass through tolls. This approach seeks to prevent any inconvenience that might arise from transaction delays, directly addressing issues of customer frustration and potential disruption in travel.
Some media reports inaccurately suggested that NHAI had introduced a new rule rendering FASTag transactions void if the tags remained inactive for over 60 minutes prior to reading and up to 10 minutes post-reading. NHAI’s statement refutes such claims as misinformed, stressing that the updated procedures are purely to facilitate backend banking reconciliation processes without impacting the end-user.
This clarification from NHAI aims to reassure FASTag users that their experiences at toll plazas will remain unaffected and that their transactions will continue to be processed swiftly. Any assertion of new rules concerning inactive FASTags is not aligned with the agency’s procedures and goals. NHAI remains committed to ensuring customer-friendly operations as it spearheads India’s toll management modernization efforts.
In essence, NHAI is making it clear that the procedural updates are aimed at improving system efficiencies while safeguarding a seamless experience for all FASTag users nationwide.
