Triumphant Diplomatic Victory: PM Modi’s Successful Two-Nation Tour to the United States and France
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has successfully concluded his two-nation tour to the United States and France, returning to New Delhi late last night. The visit highlighted India’s growing global ties and strategic partnerships.
In the United States, Prime Minister Modi’s visit marked his first engagement with President Donald Trump following his second-term inauguration. The two leaders met for in-depth bilateral discussions at the White House, engaging in a series of talks that lasted nearly four hours. These discussions focused on enhancing strategic and security cooperation, bolstering defense, facilitating trade and economic engagement, advancing technology, ensuring energy security, and strengthening people-to-people linkages. They also addressed regional and global issues of concern.
A significant outcome of this visit was the launch of the US-India COMPACT for the 21st century, focusing on enhancing military partnerships, commerce, and technology. The leaders also unveiled “Mission 500,” aspiring to more than double bilateral trade to 500 billion dollars by 2030. Additionally, plans were announced to negotiate a multi-sector bilateral trade agreement by the fall of 2025, further cementing defense as a crucial pillar of the US-India strategic partnership. Efforts are underway to finalize a decade-long defense framework from 2025 to 2035 and advance defense procurement negotiations.
In France, during the initial phase of his tour from July 10-12, Prime Minister Modi co-chaired the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in Paris alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, strengthening cooperative ties in technological innovation. The two leaders also inaugurated the new Consulate General of India in Marseille, furthering diplomatic endeavors.
Prime Minister Modi’s visits to these nations underscore India’s proactive role on the global stage and its commitment to fostering international partnerships across various sectors, thereby enhancing bilateral cooperation for mutual benefit.
