Stunning Victory: Troops Recover Looted Weapons and Arrest Militant in Thoubal
In a decisive operation in Manipur’s Thoubal district, security forces successfully recovered eight looted weapons and apprehended a militant associated with the Kangleipak Communist Party. This operation followed the theft of arms from a police outpost in Kakmayai. The strategic crackdown, executed across several targeted villages including Ningel, Malom, Toubul, and Langathel, led to the arrest of 49-year-old Hijam Ningthem Singh, a member of the banned group.
The cache of recovered firearms comprised three AK rifles and five SLR rifles, alongside a variety of other arms and military equipment. Authorities also seized 48 live rounds of Insas and AK ammunition, 25 empty shell casings, and 11 high-explosive grenades. The operation highlights the ongoing tensions in the region and underlines the security forces’ commitment to restoring peace and curbing militant activities.
A comprehensive investigation is underway to uncover further details and address the broader implications of weapon looting in the region. This significant breakthrough underscores the vigilance and effectiveness of the security forces in tackling insurgency-related challenges in Manipur.
As this operation underscores the precarious security situation in the Northeast, it also serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threats that continue to loom large over the area. Authorities are determined to ensure sustained peace and stability in the region, amidst these complex security dynamics.
