India’s Bold Call for Change: Championing Stronger Social Policies at UN Commission Meet
India is gearing up to participate in the 63rd session of the Commission for Social Development (CSoCD) in New York, scheduled from February 10-14. Leading the Indian delegation is Savitri Thakur, the Minister of State for Women and Child Development. This session will center on strengthening social cohesion and promoting inclusive policies to tackle global social challenges.
At the Ministerial Forum on Tuesday, Thakur will deliver India’s statement, underscoring the nation’s commitment to fostering solidarity and enhancing social resilience. The Indian delegation aims to actively engage in discussions focused on developing policies to strengthen social protection systems and address complex crises.
India’s participation will highlight its initiatives that bolster social resilience, contributing to the global movement towards more inclusive and equitable societies. This aligns with the commitments made under the Copenhagen Declaration on Social Development and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In preparation for the event, an informal briefing was conducted at the UN headquarters on January 9. This session provided stakeholders with an overview of the key priorities and preparations for CSoCD63. The discussions held during the session are expected to be pivotal in shaping robust social protection frameworks and advancing solutions to global social issues.
India’s involvement in the CSoCD is a vital opportunity to share its experiences and strategies in social development with the global community. It reflects India’s commitment to social development and its proactive role in addressing worldwide social issues through collaborative efforts.
As the world faces numerous social challenges, this session offers a platform to exchange best practices and forge stronger international partnerships aimed at creating more resilient, cohesive, and inclusive global societies. India’s contributions to these discussions are anticipated to provide valuable insights and foster global solidarity in addressing social challenges.
