Empower Tripura: CM’s Passionate Call for Students to Champion a Drug-Free Society
Tripura Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, has called on citizens, including students, to combat the drug menace and strive for a drug-free society. At the Jagriti 2025 Inter-College Quiz Competition in Agartala, Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of awareness and community involvement in achieving “Nesha Mukt Tripura” (Drug-Free Tripura). He highlighted that while law enforcement agencies are working towards this goal, the collective effort of the public, particularly students, is crucial for success.
Dr. Saha underscored the role of students as the future of the nation, advocating for their involvement in consumer protection and road safety initiatives. He praised Tripura students for excelling nationally and internationally, citing an example where a student represented the state at an event with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He encouraged society to identify and report individuals involved in drug trafficking, noting the drastic change in educational environments from 30 years ago, where schools faced violence, to now facing drug-related threats.
Moreover, Dr. Saha pointed out the high number of road accidents due to improper helmet use and other safety neglects, stressing the need for precautionary measures like avoiding overspeeding and driving under the influence. He mentioned the state’s initiative to establish trauma centers to address these issues.
Overall, Dr. Saha’s address aimed to foster a proactive attitude among Tripura’s youth and community towards creating a safer, healthier society, free from drugs and minimizing road accidents.
