Triumphant Modi Set to Inspire Devoted BJP Workers After Extraordinary Victory
During an intense election campaign, the luxurious revamp of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence, dubbed the ‘Sheesh Mahal’, has sparked significant controversy. The BJP has leveled accusations against Kejriwal, claiming he used taxpayer money to fund the extravagant upgrade of his bungalow on 6, Flagstaff Road. Adding fuel to the fire, a CAG report highlighted that the renovation costs had surged to four times the initial budget, providing fresh ammunition for critics.
In response, Kejriwal aimed his criticism at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, arguing that someone residing in a home valued at Rs 2,700 crore, traveling in an aircraft costing Rs 8,400 crore, and sporting a suit worth Rs 10 lakh should refrain from commenting on the expenses of the ‘Sheesh Mahal’.
Meanwhile, BJP representative Pradeep Bhandari expressed to NDTV that the AAP appeared to be on the defensive. He remarked, “The people of Delhi are questioning Arvind Kejriwal on his promises of staying in a modest 2 BHK apartment and avoiding VVIP security. During the Covid crisis, while many were in dire need of assistance, Mr. Kejriwal reportedly spent Rs 52 crore on his bungalow.” This narrative points to a broader debate over the ethical use of public funds and politicians’ commitments versus their actions.
