Experience the Enchanting Jhumur: Assam CM Inspires Joy with Live-Streamed Performances in Tea Gardens on February 24
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has directed district commissioners to organize a live-stream of a massive Jhumur dance event featuring 8,000 artists in tea gardens on February 24. The celebration, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend, aims to set a world record. During a video conference with officials, Sarma highlighted the significance of including remote tea garden communities through live streaming, ensuring their participation in this historic occasion.
This initiative is a homage to the 200-year legacy of Assam Tea, reflecting the state’s pride in its internationally acclaimed tea industry. While overseeing preparations for the event, the Chief Minister also assessed progress in significant welfare programs such as Orunodoi 3.0, Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, and Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan.
Sarma stressed the importance of local governance in implementing Orunodoi 3.0, highlighting the duties of co-district commissioners in monitoring and ensuring effective execution of the scheme at the grassroots level. He also reviewed the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan and Mukhyamantri Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan, both aimed at fostering economic independence through entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment.
This grand event not only showcases Assam’s cultural heritage but also underlines the government’s commitment to uplifting local communities and promoting self-reliance.
