Assam’s Unprecedented Triumph: Achieving Historic Rs. 1 Lakh Crore Budget Utilization Under CM Sarma’s Visionary Leadership
Under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership, Assam has reached a historic milestone by using Rs. 1 lakh crore from its budget before January ends, highlighting the state’s dedication to inclusive growth. Finance Minister Ajanta Neog’s efficient management helped achieve a record capital expenditure of around Rs. 17,000 crore, reflecting a strong commitment to development.
Since 2021, Assam has made notable progress in infrastructure, averaging the construction of one bridge and nearly 15 km of road daily. By December 2024, the government reported completing 1,236 bridges and over 18,000 km of roads. Assam’s road network now totals 65,748 km, including 3,927 km of national highways and 61,820 km managed by the Public Works Department.
Updating on major projects, CM Sarma announced the Rs. 3,689-crore Ring Road around Guwahati, with construction set to begin soon after successful bidding. Additionally, an elevated corridor at Kaziranga is pending Union Cabinet approval following a review by the Public Investment Board. These efforts signify Assam’s infrastructure growth and commitment to its people’s well-being.
