Manipur Police Triumph: 6 Notorious Insurgent Cadres Captured in Bold Crackdown
On January 29, 2025, Manipur Police apprehended two members of the banned group RPF/PLA for their involvement in extortion operations targeting shops around Paona Bazar. The individuals, identified as 24-year-olds Nepram Bothe Meitei and Yengkhom Gyandas Singh, were found in possession of a .32 pistol with seven rounds of ammunition, two mobile phones, a wallet containing ₹6,210, an Aadhaar card, and a two-wheeler.
In a separate incident on January 28, 2025, Central Forces detained three active cadres of KYKL and one member of UNLF-K in the Tengnoupal District near border points BP-85 and BP-86. Detainees included Rishikanta Laishram, Poireiton Leitanthem, Naorem Yohenba Singh from KYKL, and Kh. Malemnganba Meitei from UNLF-K. Recovered items from their possession included a traditional Khukri blade, two mobile phones, a power bank, alcohol bottles, and various identification cards.
Simultaneously, security forces conducted extensive operations across both hill and valley regions to ensure safety and reduce insurgent threats. Efforts to facilitate essential goods transport were enhanced, with 287 vehicles escorted along NH-2 and 224 along NH-37 under strict security protocols. Furthermore, 111 checkpoints were established across multiple districts, though no arrests were made for any checkpoint violations.
Security forces in Manipur remain on high alert, continuously working to curb insurgency activities and maintain civilian safety across the state. Through these coordinated efforts, authorities aim to restore peace and stability in regions impacted by insurgent threats.
