Joyous Unity: Manipur’s 76th Republic Day Celebration Inspires Mass Participation!
Manipur marked India’s 76th Republic Day with statewide fervor, uniting with the national celebrations marked by significant public engagement. The State Level Republic Day event took place at the historic Kangla, headlined by Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who hoisted the National flag and received salutes from numerous marching contingents. The ceremony witnessed the presence of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, alongside key figures including Cabinet Ministers, MPs, MLAs, the Chief Secretary, and senior security and police officials.
The celebration commenced with the Governor inspecting the Guard of Honour, led by Jay Barange, an IPS Probationer from Thoubal district. Following this, the Governor unfurled the Tricolour and saluted 54 marching contingents under the command of Laishram Sarita Devi, SP (Sports) in the Manipur Police. The event also featured performances by ten cultural troupes and twelve departmental tableaux, with a special drive-past by the Manipur Fire Service Department. During the ceremony, select officers and personnel from the Manipur Police Department received the Police Medal for Meritorious Service from the Governor.
In his Vote of Thanks at the 1st Bn. Manipur Rifles Parade Ground, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh highlighted India’s transformative development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, asserting that India is poised to become the world’s fourth-largest economy. He emphasized the state government’s continued development initiatives despite challenges, urging residents to prioritize safeguarding Manipur and contribute to a strong, united Bharat.
Republic Day celebrations also reverberated throughout the state with district administrations hosting events at their respective headquarters, ensuring the spirit of national pride and unity was felt across Manipur.
