Manipur Triumphantly Destroys Over 300 Kg of Narcotics: A Bold Step Towards a Safer Future | Guwahati News
Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced that the Manipur government has destroyed over 300 kg of narcotic substances as part of its “War on Drugs” initiative. In a statement on X, Singh emphasized this as a significant step in the ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and substance abuse. At the Shija Common Bio-Medical Waste Treatment Facility in Imphal West district, 314.471 kg of seized drugs were disposed of in the presence of ministers, MLAs, state DGP Rajiv Singh, and other officials. Singh highlighted that the “War on Drugs” is not merely a campaign but a mission to protect future generations and ensure a drug-free state. Since its launch in 2018 under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the initiative has seen the destruction of thousands of acres of poppy fields and seizure of drugs worth Rs 70,000 crore. Over 2,000 individuals have been arrested, and nearly 200 convictions have been secured. Singh urged the community, including local clubs and social workers, to unite in their efforts and maintain integrity in combating drugs. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to eradicating drug-related activities and encouraged officials to remain sincere and uncompromising in their efforts.
