Urgent Call to Leadership: Priyanka Gandhi to Rally Amidst Rahul’s Health Concerns in Delhi Congress Campaign
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, has been unable to participate in planned election rallies due to health issues. This has prompted the Delhi Congress to seek the involvement of Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for the February 5 polls campaign. Initially, Rahul was expected to attend a rally on January 20 in New Delhi, alongside Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit, but he couldn’t make it. The following day, he also missed the centenary celebrations of the 1924 Belagavi Congress session in Karnataka.
On Wednesday, Rahul was supposed to kick off three consecutive election rallies in Delhi, beginning at Inderlok Metro station in the Sadar Bazar constituency. At the event, Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav explained to the audience that due to Rahul’s health, he was sending his best wishes instead. Rahul’s message expressed confidence in the party’s candidates, especially praising Anil Bhardwaj for his significant role in Delhi politics, urging supporters to work towards a substantial Congress victory.
With Rahul’s absence, a party insider revealed that a request was made to the central leadership to have Priyanka Gandhi take the lead in the Delhi campaign sooner than initially planned. She was expected to join the campaign later but will now likely assume responsibilities from the next week.
This shift in leadership aims to maintain momentum in the campaign amidst Rahul’s health setbacks, ensuring the Congress party remains a competitive force in the upcoming elections. Priyanka’s potential involvement is seen as a strategic move to invigorate party efforts and connect with voters as polling day approaches.
