Thrilling Triumph: Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal’s Epic Brahmaputra Rafting Expedition Courageously Conquers Dhemaji
Colonel Ranveer Singh Jamwal’s Brahmaputra River Rafting Expedition, a landmark in Indian adventure sports, has reached Dhemaji in Assam. Led by the illustrious Colonel Jamwal, a highly decorated Indian Army officer and the Director of the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports (NIMAS), the team embarked on this epic journey on January 14, 2025, from Gelling, Arunachal Pradesh. The mission aims to cover the entire 916-kilometer stretch of the Brahmaputra River within India, finishing in Dhubri-Hatsingimari, Assam.
Colonel Jamwal, renowned for his three successful climbs of Mount Everest and more than 70 mountaineering feats, has been pivotal in guiding this 22-member team. Notable members include Captain Kavitha Basu Palli, an adept adventurer and doctor, and Junior Commissioned Officer Ravi Devdkar, supported by expert kayakers and several jawans. They have already conquered an impressive 400 kilometers of this formidable river.
The expedition faces formidable obstacles, particularly the notorious rapids of the Siang stretch, yet the team’s courage and unity prevail. The journey’s spirit was enhanced when six adventurers from Arunachal Pradesh joined the team from Upper Siang to Pasighat, although unfortunate circumstances prevented their continuation beyond Pasighat.
Colonel Jamwal emphasized that the expedition transcends mere adventure, symbolizing the relentless pursuit of boundaries and evoking inspiration among young explorers. By showcasing the beauty and challenges of India’s northeastern region, the team highlights the indomitable spirit of adventure.
